Why do we use tile spacers… can the tile be not laid one after the other without a space?
“Why do we not put spacers or wide joints when Granite or Marble flooring is carried out unlike ceramic tiles that are generally fixed with 3 or 4mm spacers at all joints. Can’t we fix granite or marble with space grouted… any disadvantages? Can’t we put ceramic tiles on floor or walls without spacers, i mean touching each other.
I would appreciate your expert advice.”
Not all tiles are exactly the same size. You can use 1/8″ spacers. You need the grout between the joints for movement and to help line them up. Spacers help keep the grout lines straight.
